ALL GONE !

The high winds are all gone now, everything is quiet once again. The air is chilly and fresh but its still cloudy, they say chance of rain but these clouds look more like snow in them .Ok ok , I'll meet the weather man half way  wet snow lol ! sounds stupid doesn't it snow is wet isn't it ?  Ya they mean a snow rain mix , DAH ! Country people know by the smell and the feel in the air whether it will snow or rain . My dad taught me as a young child how to use the skill of the farmers almanac to predict the weather and to this day I still got it lol.  Papa often uses my skill for his Astronomy or just because   !  I do enjoy a chilly day so I can put the fireplace on and have a cup of tea , hot chocolate or a bowl of soup or stew  to help warm me up, especially when we get the first mild snow fall, everything is quiet and still as the snow falls gently to the ground making the land look  so pretty and fresh.  I know we all don't want to even think about snow right now but it is at the time were it can fall any time now, so we just have to make the best of it and adapted just like we do all other seasons , and besides snow and winter  is  great for photography for those of us who are snap happy !

HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS PEOPLE!!! IT'S STILL WINDY OUT THERE !!!!

Holly molly, the wind has been wild here. It got so windy last night  that we thought a tornado was to form and possibly hit, close call  it was.  Our arbour that was anchored down blew right over, planters and all. Papa had to go out in that wind and take the planters out of the arbour   , hang on Papa don't want ya flying around like a tumble weed!!!   He left the arbour down as it was pointless to stand it up again as the wind would of  blown it over again and may have damaged it . The clouds were dark greyish black and nasty looking. Papa and I saw a rainbow, so ya know what we had to do , yup take pictures as we  fought  the winds  lol.  It's nuts as to what you will do for a photo isn't it lol. I was able to capture a bit of the rainbow but it was disappearing so fast due to the winds and the sun was out behind us so I had to take pics of the sun shining on the trees with the dark clouds behind them, it was weird looking I tell ya, like a scene from a movie. The wind is still strong this morning but they say it may let up soon , as I just finished fetching our garbage cans from flying down the drive way . Our Miggy doesn't like the high winds she becomes quite the nervous Nelly . As for the leaves that we haven't tidied up yet, welll, they are blowing over to our neighbours lol my in laws  lol.  As for me I just keep listening out for that loud jet engine sound that comes before the tornado, I have been in two of them when I was a  child on the farm and I will never forget the sound of them.  So needless to say unless the winds die down I wont be going out side  , and never have an umbrella up in this wind cause you will take off like Mary Poppins lol .

WINDY WEDNESDAY

It is so windy out there today that it is impossible to do anything. The sun is shining and temperature is nice but the wind is awful, I was feeding the birds this morning and the poor little things were struggling to get to the feeders cause of the wind. I have a little nut hatch that likes to sit on the feeder as I am filling it , I am trying to get him to sit on my finger . I have tried to get a photo of him being so close but he is camera shy, I will have to just let him get used to me first then maybe he will let me take his picture. 

I will be taking more photos of our village soon before  fall is over. I will also be taking winter photos of our village as it  looks like a country winter wonderland with all the fresh snow upon it ! That wont be for some time yet ( I hope ) !

I took a photo or two of my mums lamp may she (rip)  It was one of my favourite things she had. I think it makes a simple but pretty centre piece, Papa and I like to light it  in the evenings and have its soft flowing light in our kitchen.

Of course I couldn't resist  taking photos of our fur babies.

                       Miggy loves to sit on the stairs. I guess she gets a better look at everything from up there ! She always sits up there and waits for Papa to come home from work !

  Harley & Miggy playing, wellll Harley doesn't look  that impressed she always has a scowl look upon her face when Miggy tries to play with her  kind of saying in her way ( ok kid bug off ! ) lol      PS !  If any of you like the night skies I have photos that Papa  took of the stars  through his telescope on our K &  E Photography blog   !     They are amazing photos !  Have a look and wish upon a star!

HISTORY AND PHOTO SHOOT TODAY !

Well its been pretty quiet around here for a few days, not really  much that has to be done ASAP! We bought a new tent type garage for hubbies tractor to be in so he can move it better in and out for plowing for  here it comes WINTER !  and for some storage just for this year till we get him his shop build for next year. The shop will mainly be for his wood working equipment and tools , it will be built in the same color of the house and our other sheds and have plenty of room for storage as well. Our kitty Harley has to go to the vet for her check up but she now has her right eye that isn't looking so good and since she is a indoor cat I don't want it to get infected or spread to Miggy, Harley doesn't seem bothered about it which is good and she still dashes around like a nut with a big puffy tail happening.

The weather is lovely today so I am going to go for a walk with Miggy and take  photos of our village. Our village is sunk in a valley and the back drop of trees make it look amazing . We have some interesting buildings and history. I will post photos on our photography blog, until next time hope you all have a great day !

A wonderful show filmed in Alberta about a family owned and operated horse ranch , the good and the bad of it all. It is a wonderful show and its all Canadian WOOOOHOOO !

SUNRISE OVER OUR VILLAGE

I tried to capture the sun rising this morning over our village. The trees there in the forest haven't quite changed  yet but still a pretty image to see as the sun pops up over the tree line!

  I captured it frame by frame as it was slowly rising. The air was crisp and cold this morning  the country sounds echoing in the cold all around me as I was taking these photos , it was beautiful !   Some times you just have to grab your camera and go for it in the spur of the moment !

Thanksgiving Delights

On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.

For sun to light and warm our days,

And puffy clouds of white.

We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,

Thanksgiving is a time

The prairie blows the grasses

RAIN & MEMORIES !

It's rainy and cold again today. I have made chicken stew in the slow cooker for supper and been going through old photos again. This weekend is Thanksgiving for us. A holiday in which brings sadness to our hearts . Two years ago on Thanksgiving my mum suddenly passed away at her home. It was the worst phone call I have ever had . Hubby and I were at  his parents for the weekend. So needless to say this holiday is hard for us.  I always think about it more the week before Thanksgiving. My father passed 15 years ago Nov 17th that was hard as well. These old photos have brought back  happy and sad memories for me . I like to think that our mum & dad's spirits have found each other  and are happy again !

RAINY WEEKEND

The weather was rainy, cold and windy all weekend, so I did some blog searching found other great blogs to follow , watched some movies,  and searched through old family photos. Hubby scanned  them in to the computer for me and I watched the Equestrian Competition world event. We had the fire place going , drank hot chocolate, cups of tea and decided to cook up some home made chilly in the slow cooker and relaxed all weekend. Hubby was busy with his photos and other stuff on his computer  as well . All in all it was a  nice cozy relaxing  weekend. Hope everyone had a great weekend !
